- Title
Micrometastases in Sentinel Lymph Nodes: Few Data Make for Hard Decisions.
- Authors
Rowan, Karen
- Abstract
The article discusses the differing opinions on micrometastases in sentinel lymph nodes. It infers that medical practitioners are having debates on the treatment of isolated cells in the sentinel lymph nodes of whether to proceed with axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) that removes remaining axillary lymph node or to rule out the operation which spares the patient from its potential side effects. Several studies are discussed in the article including one from a group of Dutch researchers which was published in the "New England Journal of Medicine."
