- Abstract
The venetian patriciate has been considered, so far, as a nobility that was different from the other on the base of the historiographical assumption which regarded it as not used to resort to feud and vengeance. The present research aims to refute this statement by analysing some episodes of patrician conflicts in the early 16th century through the integration of narrative and trial sources. This purpose has been achieved thanks to the examination of the relationship between conflict's manifestation, trial rites adopted by Venice's courts and modalities through which political-judicial venetian institutions administrated justice.
