- Abstract
The article reports on the effort of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to improve the safe use of drugs in clinical practice. The FDA is coordinating with health organizations to perform drug safety studies using large databases from across the country. One of the goals of the program is to respond to urgent public safety concerns. The data resources will be used to understand whether clinicians are prescribing a drug in accordance with recommended practice.
