- Title
Why we all need to be worried about the impact of falling.
- Authors
Sturdy, Deborah
- Abstract
The author reflects on the failure of nurses to take risk management in caring for older people who fall in Great Britain. She cites the findings of the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) that 245,000 critical incidence reports filed in hospitals in England and Wales in 2004-2005 regarding people who fall, of which 90-95% are unwitnessed by staff. She contends that the process of care should be improved to prevent falls and treat fractures in the ageing population.
