- Abstract
The article focuses on a research on human sensitization testing with commercial permanent waving lotions containing glyceryl monothioglycolate. Medical problems associated with permanent hair waving have been relatively infrequent in the past. Recently there have been reports of contact dermatitis in hairdressers which attribute this reaction to permanent hair waving products identified as acid perms and specially to the active component glyceryl monothioglycolate. Presented here are results of 2 human sensitization studies conducted during the period 1978-1982.
