- Authors
Münkler, Laura
- Abstract
The article "Municipalities as actors in outpatient healthcare?" deals with the role of municipalities in outpatient healthcare. It considers the possibility of re-municipalizing outpatient healthcare. The article examines the structural changes in outpatient care and highlights why involving municipalities could be meaningful. Various trends and challenges in outpatient healthcare are discussed, justifying a stronger role for municipalities. It emphasizes the need for better allocation and integration of prevention and healthcare to optimize the German healthcare system. The authors argue that so-called structural prevention, which focuses on the living environment and its impact on health, is considered more relevant. They emphasize the role of municipalities in implementing structural prevention and call for greater involvement of municipalities in outpatient healthcare.
