- Abstract
This article focuses on a new spring oat variety resistant to stem and bulb eelworm. An oat variety trial, conducted by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany and the National Agricultural Advisory Service in Great Britain, was inadvertently sited on a field containing a small area infested with Ditylenchus dipsaci Filipjev. Three of the six blocks in this trial were laid down on the infested land, the other three on clean land. Differences in varietal susceptibility were obvious by late June 1959 and plant counts made on July 7, 1959 indicated that the new variety showed a high degree of eelworm resistance.
