- Title
Species richness in a tropical biodiversity hotspot.
- Authors
Robertson, Jeanne M.; Chan, Lauren M.
- Abstract
In this article, the authors discuss the study by K. A. Tolley and colleagues on species richness of chameleons in a tropical biodiversity hotspot in Africa. The authors say that biological diversity is higher in tropical regions. They examine how Tolley and colleagues test mechanisms of animal diversification occurring in the Eastern Arc Mountains (EAM) in eastern Tanzania and southern Kenya. They add that the study offers an empirical example towards understanding of species richness patterns.
