- Abstract
Securing supplies of raw materials is essentially the task of companies and the role of public authorities is to ensure the right framework conditions to allow companies to carry out this task. The European Commission intends to explore with the extractive, recycling and user industries the potential for targeted actions, notably with regard to recycling. The uncertainty in the quantity and timing of returns is one of the main factors which makes the implementation of recycling processes difficult, particularly for the integration between the forward and reverse supply chains. Remanufacturing system is one of the main topics in reverse supply chain, which extends the classical forward process to manage the used products return from the customers. It involves several operations such as: collection, inspection of used products, re-production and disposal. The management of remanufacturing activities requires new techniques in order to improve these systems for cost optimized operations.
