An essay is presented on the ghost of the absent artworks, Mona Lisa painting of artist Leonardo da Vinci, called spekphrasis and the Louvre museum in Paris, France. It explores the relationship among the newspaper narrative, the public institution, and the lost works. Topics discussed include the book "Re-Imagining the Museum: Beyond the Mausoleum," by Andrea Witcomb, the Mona Lisa painting theft, and creative writing is one way to remember, imagine and recuperate a lost artwork.
