- Abstract
The jewellery hoard recently found in one of the Buddhist sites in Palai area located in Malaland Agency of ancient Gandhāra (see map). The hoard consists of eighty seven light weight pieces in gold or gold plated and can be divided into different groups, some of which are further divided into sub-groups. The present study not only focuses on the significance, use and function of these objects but it also highlights its important in the ancient Indian cultures. It is also tried here to seek parallels in the Buddhist art of Gandhāra, particularly with the sculptures recovered from the Buddhist site of Zar Dheri (Mansehara).
