- Abstract
Our main objective is to identify an efficient set of guidelines companies can use to manage the main outsourcing logistics risks of failure and to avoid termination of such agreements. Based on some previous research we were able to identify the most popular outsourcing logistics risks and failure reasons, along with the most relevant provider selection criteria used in an emergent economy such as Romanian's. Based on this taxonomy, we build a series of questions grouped into the main aspects included in outsourcing logistics agreements, which we applied to a number Romanian companies that have experience in the field. The findings indicate that all our respondents still have many aspects to improve and learn in order to find the best ways to manage the most common outsourcing logistics risks of failure. Some of our findings include details concerning strategies on the partner selection that must be improved; others address poorly designed contracts, prices negotiation, or the performance indicators used. All these are part of our guideline designed for companies that plan to apply successful outsourcing logistics strategies. This study is useful for Romanian practitioners and also academics as it explores ways in which the outsourcing logistics high failure rate can be reduced.
