- Title
Can All Major Ros Forming Sites of the Respiratory Chain Be Activated by High FADH2/NADH Ratios?
- Authors
Schönfeld, Peter
- Abstract
The article offers information on impact of flavin adenine dinucleotide/ nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (FADH2/NADH) on the reactive oxygen species (ROS) forming sites of respiratory chain. Topics discussed include production of harmful ROS by adenosine triphostate (ATP) mitochondria; mitochondrial oxidation shifts from substrates with low FADH2/NADH to those with high FADH2/NADH ratio; and fasting enhances the risk of liver damage by oxidative stress.
