- Abstract
This article discusses a comparative pilot study that aimed to evaluate the accuracy of histopathological diagnosis using frozen section (FS) versus formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) sections in common dermatoses. The study included 38 patients with conclusive histopathological diagnoses and found that FS had a sensitivity of 79.4% and specificity of 100% compared to FFPE sections. The study suggests that FS can provide rapid histopathological evidence in dermatology, aiding in the initiation of therapy and providing clues for differential diagnoses. However, the study acknowledges limitations such as the small sample size and the need for trained dermatopathologists.
