With the coming of interactive media, the concept of Society of the Spectacle reaches a new level, in which the image acquires a crucial role in the interactions between governments, societies and extremist groups. These interactions, however, are being established through the promotion of violence and terror as a way of political articulation. In this sense, this article presents a discussion about the concept of Society of the Spectacle and about some functions of the image in the contemporary world.
