- Abstract
The article focuses on the reconsideration of the value of hieroglyphic Luwian Sign 429. Several considerations concerning the etymology of the sign HI(YA) have been added. The value of the second sign in a-hi(ya)-wa/i-(URBS) is most probably simply phonetic HI(YA). However, there is also an alternative, slightly different possibility of interpretation implied by the nature of HLuw. writing, which uses the same signs both in phonetic and logographic/ideographic function.
