- Abstract
The article focuses on the use of genetic sequences in developing new products and services in human biomedicine and crop-based agriculture. It discusses the importance of patenting nucleotide and amino acid sequences across plant and animal species, and discusses the use of PatSeq toolkit, with plant genome maps for maize, rice and soybean, for comparing gene patenting across plant and human genomes. It presents several patent claims recorded by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
