- Title
EPA releases land-use rule for biofuels to mixed reception.
- Authors
Fox, Jeffrey L.
- Abstract
The article relates the reactions to the regulations governing renewable fuel standards issued by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 2010. As stated, both Republican and Democratic politicians have joined forces to formally amend the Clean Air Act and oppose agency measures on regulating greenhouse gas emissions. The resistance from environmental and consumer groups is reportedly attributed to conflicts about whether or how to include terms relating to indirect land use when calculating the effect of biofuels on greenhouse gas emissions. Also presented is the support from the biofuel sector.
