The article discusses the transformation of prairie region of Fort Garry into the urban forest of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The plantation of trees in Winnipeg was the result of a systematic planning by the government of Manitoba. University students and staff members planted large number of trees on Arbor Day on May 10, 1887.
