- Abstract
Cyberloafing is generally regarded as a negative workplace behavior that decreases employee productivity. This research examines how social media context awareness and job crafting can positively influence employee performance. Also considered is the impact of electronic monitoring on employee performance. This survey-based crosssectional study was conducted in Saudi organizations. 219 employees responded online. For data analysis, structural equation modeling through AMOS is used. The results of this study suggest that cyberloafing and employee performance have a complex relationship. Cyberloafing does not directly affect employee performance but indirectly affects employee performance positively via full mediation of social media context awareness and job crafting. This study also demonstrates that electronic monitoring improves employee performance. In addition, the practical and research implications are discussed.
