The article discusses labour law and union recognition in Canada as of April 2013, focusing on the U.S. National Labor Relations Act (Wagner Act) and an analysis of the historical conditions and the institutionalized norms and traditions that have reportedly shaped the labour laws in the U.S. and Canada. The effects of globalization and neo-liberalism on Canadian labour law are addressed, along with former U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt and legal institutionalization.
