- Abstract

Observational trials found no difference in total bacterial counts or in the number of clinically significant pathogens on healthcare professionals in BBE attire versus controls who were not in BBE attire. NICE guidelines state that the BBE policy applies when delivering direct patient care or performing hand decontamination[3] but it is not unheard of for NHS trusts to apply more of a blanket policy, in which staff must be BBE at all times when in clinical areas. Uniform: an evidence review of the microbiological significance of uniforms and uniform policy in the prevention and control of healthcare-associated infections.
