- Abstract
Microwave-assisted extract (MAE) process for flavonoids from litchi seeds was studied. Influences of solvent, microwave power, dosage of solvent, extracting time and extracting times on the extraction were investigated. From orthogonal experiments the optimum extracting parameters were determined as follows:solvents, 60% alcohol;microwave power, 700 W; irradiation time, 150 s; material: solvents, 1:25 (g/mL); extracting times, one. Under these conditions the yield of flavonoids was 6.86% and the content of flavonoids in extracts reached 36.7%. Compared with the conventional extraction methods, the MAE process provided high extraction rate, high extraction selectivity and required short time. Antioxidant experiments showed that the flavonoids from litchi seeds had strong hydroxyl free radical (OH ·) and superoxide anion free radical (O2- ·) scavenging activities.
