- Abstract
The article focuses on the tenacity of the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) facility, home to two national biocontainment laboratories from the Hurricane Ike in Galveston, Texas. The calamity caused damages around $ 700 million to the University of Texas facilities. However, the $180 million worth medical laboratory of Galveston is designed to withstand winds as strong as those of tornadoes.
