- Title
When species matches are unavailable are DNA barcodes correctly assigned to higher taxa? An assessment using sphingid moths.
- Abstract
The article focuses on a research exploring the accuracy of assignments to subfamily, genus, and tribe by using the global DNA barcode reference library in the sphingid moths. The researchers suggested that by using a strict tree-based criterion for higher taxon assignment with DNA barcodes, the chances of assigning a genus name incorrectly get decreases. The research study also observed that barcode reference libraries should be prove useful for higher taxon assignments
