- Abstract
Introduction: Pediatric dentistry faces challenges in early orthodontic intervention, emphasizing malocclusion interception and facial growth guidance. The Twin Block appliance, a noninvasive tool, and its combination with expansion provide a synergistic approach to address both skeletal and dental malocclusions. This case series explores the effectiveness of integrating the twin block appliance with expansion in pediatric patients, emphasizing unique features and clinical significance in achieving comprehensive orthodontic outcomes. Case Report: This case series presents a detailed examination of 2 cases of pediatric patients diagnosed as Angle's class 2 division 2 with an overjet of about 10 mm treated with the Twin Block appliance and expansion. Case reports document initial malocclusions, appliance selection rationale, treatment planning, and outcomes. The cases highlight the Twin Block's role in functional mandibular growth and skeletal correction and illustrate the synergy between the twin block and expansion for comprehensive early orthodontic interventions and optimal arch development. Clinical Significance or Unique Feature: This case series underscores the significance of combining the Twin Block appliance with palatal expansion in pediatric dentistry. The unique feature lies in addressing sagittal and transverse discrepancies concurrently, utilizing natural functional forces. This aims to enhance occlusion, facial esthetics, and achieve optimal arch form and symmetry. Cases showcase adaptability in various pediatric malocclusions, providing insights for practitioners. By emphasizing synergistic benefits, the study contributes to refining early orthodontic intervention strategies for comprehensive outcomes in pediatric dentistry.
