The article discusses the modern approaches to aesthetic emotion, the ancient opinions about correspondences and the differences between emotions experienced in real life, as well as emotions generated by art, specifically by literature. It examines the numerous ways in which theorists in the old days defined aesthetic emotions and its novel features. It cites as examples the novels "Robinson Crusoe" and the "Odyssey" to discuss emotion.
