- Abstract
Jonas Röhrig, a mathematics graduate from the University of Bonn, found a job at the Westermann Group in Cologne after completing his studies. He is now a program manager and responsible for overseeing and strategically developing the publishing program in mathematics and natural sciences. He reviews and directs manuscripts for textbooks and digital materials to the editorial team. The materials he works with are mainly for vocational education and range from vocational schools to vocational high schools. The authors of the materials are usually teachers who have practical experience in the respective types of schools. Jonas Röhrig also deals with market and competition analysis as well as the strategic development of the publishing program. He gathers information through conversations with school advisors and focuses on developing products that sell well in the market. He enjoys discussing content and implementation ideas with authors and is proud of a long-term project where he was responsible for the strategic development and successful introduction of a new concept. Philipp Pommer provides insight into his experiences as a student at the KIT in an interview. He has successfully attended lectures and taken exams, earning 53 ECTS credits by the time he graduated from high school. Pommer chose to pursue student studies because he knew he could handle it alongside school. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, part of the studies took place online. Pommer is now studying computer science in addition to mathematics as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation.
