- Abstract
Facing the 50th anniversary of the Second General Conference of Latin-American Bishops, held in Medellin (1968), which main purpose was to deal with the troubled reality of Latin America in continuity and in the light of Vatican II, the author proposes a reinterpretation of that Conference so decisive for the identity of the Church and Latin-American Theology. The different parts of the article, firstly underlines some general features and guidelines of the Council. Then, realizes the creative reception of Vatican II by the churches of Latin America meeting in Medellin. Finally, considering the focus, the options and the style of Medellin, certainly conditioned by the hectic Latin American context, stops at some challenges that seem to be pending or in force for Theology in the current, local and global context, also in dizzying transformation.
