- Abstract
This article describes a novel technique for performing robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) for renal hilar tumors without the need to clamp the renal vessels. Renal hilar tumors, which are tumors abutting the main renal artery or vein, present unique challenges during surgery. The authors propose using RAPN to enucleate the tumor and seal the feeding artery, thereby controlling bleeding without clamping the renal artery. The study reports on 10 RAPN procedures using this technique, demonstrating its safety and feasibility. However, the authors acknowledge the limitations of the study and suggest further research comparing this technique with conventional RAPN.
