The article examines the aesthetics of Gaelic music and song as part of the cultural life in Tory Island, Ireland. According to the article, aesthetics is of central concern to the study of ethnomusicology. In this article, the author focuses on the contextualized uses of certain words in the Irish language. The author provides an interpretation of the complex of relations that exists among such words.
