- Title
Transgenerational Locusts: Writing as Aesthetic Refusal.
- Authors
Fremland, Jessica
- Abstract
The article explores the power of writing as a form of resistance and refusal in the context of Native American experiences. The author examines the ways in which letter writing and crafting can challenge the dominant narrative of settler-colonial righteousness and benevolence perpetuated by boarding schools. The author draws inspiration from Elizabeth Cook-Lynn's unapologetic academic prose and emphasizes the political responsibilities of Dakota women in academia. The article highlights the importance of writing as a method of resistance and offers possibilities for escaping settler-carceral violence.
