- Title
(1749) Proposal to conserve the name Krascheninnikovia against Ceratoides (Chenopodiaceae).
- Authors
Heklau, Heike
- Abstract
The article discusses the conservation of the name Krasheninnikovia to refer to a monotypic chenopodiaceous genus for Axyris Ceratoides L, as against to the name Ceratoides. Accordingly, the name Ceratoides was coined after Tournefort introduced it for a genus containing the semishrub and two annuals. However, the proposal to change the name of Krasheninnikovia into Ceratoides was rejected as the latter word has allegedly been confusing and inconsistent with regards to its meaning.
