- Title
On war and cuteness: the utopian politics of Disney's Zootopia.
- Authors
Chew, Kevin
- Abstract
This essay explores the ways in which the animated film "Zootopia" both engages with and troubles the utopian imagination associated with its producer, Walt Disney Co. and its theme parks. Topics covered include the allegory of racism in the film in reference to the work of French philosopher Michel Foucault, an analysis of the dialectic between objectification and agency in the film, and the acts of repression that demarcate the boundaries of the film's utopian imagination.
