Title
Behaviour: Why 'there's never just one'.
Abstract
The article cites a study that finds psychological problems in cockroaches which parallels to isolation syndrome. A team led by Mathieu Lihoreau reared nymphs of German cockroach either in isolation or in a small group of siblings, and observed poor behavioral adaptations among the specimens. It is noted that the same behavior has been detected in vertebrates and may emerge in any company-deprived social species.
