- Title
Greenhouse-gas satellite heads into orbit.
- Abstract
The article discusses the successful January 23, 2009 launching of Japan's Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite (GOSAT) which will monitor atmospheric levels of methane, water vapor, and ozone. The data will provide details to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) regarding the global distribution as well as the seasonal variations of the gases. JAXA will team with the U.S. National Aeronautics & Space Administration (NASA) in February to generate complimentary data on emissions.
