Su Shi had a deep-rooted cultural tradition for understanding tea and showing interest in Zen. Although he did not intend to practice Zen or comprehend the Zen realm, his tea related poetry and prose constantly reflected the spirit of leisure, tranquility, and pure joy, overflowing with the Zen enlightenment of "going for tea". Su Dongpo loved tea Zen and also loved Yi Li, the principles of natural changes.
