- Abstract
Italian Film in the Present Tense is a collection of essays by Millicent Marcus, a prominent scholar of Italian cinema studies. The book builds on Marcus's previous works and explores the contemporary state of Italian cinema. Divided into six parts, the book covers topics such as mafias, neoregionalism, migrants, leadership, women, and a category of its own. While the book offers insightful analysis, some areas could benefit from further development, and certain aspects of Italian cinema, such as animation and experimental cinema, are not covered. Overall, Italian Film in the Present Tense showcases Marcus's extensive knowledge and dedication to the study of Italian cinema.
