Reducing Rejects.
- Authors

- Abstract
This article presents a case study on reducing rejects in the oil and gas industry during the mechanical completion stage of projects. The rejection rate of exception items was causing delays and increased costs. The inspection team used the DMAIC method of lean Six Sigma to identify causes, prioritize them, and develop recommendations. By implementing these recommendations, the rejection rate was reduced to below 5%, resulting in cost and schedule savings. The article also provides a list of sources for library patrons to further research project management, risk management, process mapping, Six Sigma tools, Pareto charts, root cause analysis, and control plans. These sources offer valuable information and insights on these topics.
