- Abstract
The aim of this study is to identify the increasingly important threats in international maritime transport, where approximately 80% of global trade takes place, and to make recommendations to companies to manage these threats. In the study, based on the face-to-face interview technique, questions were asked to the participants about their ability to manage the threats encountered in sea transport, which was previously determined. In the light of the data obtained at the end of the interview, their preferred methods to manage these threats were categorized and recommendations. Among the findings obtained as a result of the interviews, it was determined that companies engaged in international maritime trade face external threats more, and it is easier to cope with internal threats because the cost of dealing with threats faced within their own bodies is lower. Discussion - According to the results of the research, it has been revealed that the biggest threats of maritime transportation in the world are piracy and banditry and international organizations should do more work for the security of ships.
