- Abstract
This article presents a study to test the measurable personality factor differences obtain between samples of emotionally disturbed boys classified as personality or conduct problems. All of the boys selected for study had been referred to a child guidance clinic for diagnosis or treatment. The younger sample consisted of 126 Caucasian boys, 92 of whom were classified as conduct problems and 34 as personality problems. The mean age of the former was 9.58 while that of the latter was 9.72. Their ages ranged from eight to twelve. Differences between the two groups on such variables as age of parents, family income, school grade, and religious affiliation were not significant. The older sample totaled 63 Caucasian boys and included 34 classified as conduct problems and 29 as personality problems.
