- Abstract
The article "Quality in Worship" deals with the perception of liturgy from a pastoral-theological perspective. It is pointed out that the religious landscape in Austria has changed significantly and that fewer and fewer people regularly attend Sunday worship. A study on Sunday worship culture in the Archdiocese of Vienna shows that the term "Sunday obligation" confuses many and that the age group up to 20 is practically not represented. It is also noted that there are fewer and fewer priests and that their liturgical and theological understandings may differ from those of the communities. New forms of worship, including online formats, are gaining importance. Various aspects of liturgical celebrations and their quality are addressed, including the importance of emotion and the tension between individuality and communal experience. Questions of inclusivity and exclusivity of worship, the relationship between proprium and ordinarium, diakonia and liturgy, space and time, as well as the liturgical competence of people are also discussed.
