- Title
LES « CHANÇONS » DE CHARLES D'ORLÉANS: Une énigme en mouvement.
- Authors
SIEFFERT, Mathias
- Abstract
The manuscript of BnF fr. 25458 contains a series of rondeau entitled chançons. The article explores the enigma they pose in both visual and semantic terms: why does the Prince collect them, and why does he choose their particular layout? These pieces might initially have been intended to form a collection that would be enshrined in the cycle of ballads of the day. Over the years, the actual collection in the Prince's album has become illegible, but is partially reconstructed in two manuscripts: the Royal 16 F II manuscript and the Grenoble manuscript.
