- Abstract
Mudstone is widely used as backfill material. The characteristics of mudstone and its external environment have great influences on its performance. The void ratio and permeability characteristics of mudstone with different dry densities were studied under the action of drying-wetting cycles. Based on the void ratio and permeability coefficient, the evolution process of specific surface area in mudstone caused by dry-wet cycling was deduced by Kozeny-Carman formula. Relationship was established among the specific surface area, the curvature coefficient(Cc)and the non-uniformity coefficient(Cu)of samples. The uniformity and distribution of granular materials were characterized by specific surface area. It is found that the specific surface area has a linear relationship with the basic entropy, which indicates that the specific surface area can be used to measure the degree of fragmentation of backfill particles.
