- Abstract
This case control prospective study for acute stroke management compared telemedicine, telephone, and face-to-face evaluations. Telemedicine diagnostics and examination were as effective as face-to-face evaluation. The use of telemedicine decreased the time for intervention in the crucial minutes after access to emergency services in a highly significant manner (p<0.003) and increased the use of tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) intervention from 5% to 24% in remote areas.
