- Abstract
In this paper we try to apply the main results of behavioral research to the specific field of event management. The objective of this work is therefore to identify what the behavioral approach can suggest to improve the effectiveness in the management of cultural events. The underlying methodological approach followed in this paper is deductive. Within this frame, the orientation is prescriptive and aims to identify patterns of behavior to be suggested to event organizers. Following this methodology, some behavioral insights have been identified: peak-end rule; sequence in pain and pleasure; anticipation; build commitment through choice; rituals; experienced vs remembered happiness. The present work seems to be one of the first applications of behavioral approach to cultural event management. The use of behavioral perspective forces us to think about an event from an attendee's perspective in the sense that it takes into consideration his psychological dimension, the "experience" that the event is creating in his memory. Those engaged in the organization of events will certainly benefit, thus, from useful knowledge to optimize the effects of their actions.
