- Abstract
The article offers information on a research carried out to ascertain the cause of conspicuous histomorphological cardiac lesions in large seawater-farmed rainbow trout in northern Norway prior to slaughter. Affected fishes were transferred from fresh water to sea-cages. They were fed a standard commercially formulated feed. It was found that idiopathic cardiac was due to mismatch between cardiac capacity, oxygen demand and the physical challenges imposed on the fishes.
