- Title

- Authors
Halterman, Steven L.; Benn, Joshua
- Abstract
This article discusses the transformational impact of the COVID era as it relates to employee benefits and workforce health and well-being. The authors describe various changes in workplace culture, environment and health care delivery methods while identifying gaps in pre-COVID-era workplace health and well-being strategies. Evidence and rationale are presented for employers to shift their objectives with specific emphasis on workforce diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategies and engagement in evidence-based programs to prevent and manage chronic conditions—such as diabetes, obesity and hypertension—which are also leading risk factors for COVID-19 complications. Colorado’s STATE OF HEALTH is a new program that the state developed to transform practices toward meeting these new COVID-era workforce objectives.
