- Abstract
The article presents an abstract of the book "Canadian Pensions and Retirement Income Planning," edited by Amanjeet K. Chauhan. Pensions reforms in Canada have resulted in changes in retirement savings taxation, modified minimum pension standards, revised pension accounting rules and adjusted surplus ownership parameters. In addition, revisions to the Canadian Income Tax Act have affected Canada's tax rules for retirement income plans such as defined benefit, defined contribution registered retirement savings plans (RRSPs) and deferred profit-sharing plans. Tax changes, RRSP contribution rules, rules for determining pension adjustments and past service pension adjustments, pension plan registration rules and reporting requirements have been examined in the book. Besides, it also discusses special issues and strategies to make the most of the revised tax rules.
