- Abstract
The article discusses the state of the environmental health profession in the U.S., and the need to raise public awareness of it as a career option. The termination of academic programs in environmental health due to low college student enrollment is discussed, as is a contrasting program success story, that of the department at Eastern Kentucky University, which has been successful in marketing itself to students. The notion of setting up public health apprenticeship programs is also mentioned.
